Rockin' Huckabee

 New endorsement

Door HangerPush CardMeet MikeMike On The Issues

News out today that Florida House Speaker Marc Rubio will come out with an endorsement of Mike Huckabee this Monday. This is big stuff as Huck is lagging a bit in the polls in Florida. It will be interesting to see what a kick this gives his campaign.

And speaking of campaigns, the slash and burn campaign over at HotAir is in full swing. They've got at least two posts daily, twisting the Gov's words, parsing statements, taking video out of context, all in a deliberate attempt to torpedo his rising fortunes. These guys are dedicated Fred? supporters and will stoop to any level to get the somnambulent actor on top.

We shall see who is still standing at the end of January. My money's on Mike Huckabee.

 Comprehensive polling data

Okay, stand back as I unleash my mad html skills!

Heh, heh.

But seriously, here is more comprehensive poll data that I will try and update daily. I'll list the front runner and where Huck stands in relation. If he's not in first (and why not?), I'll have his place in parenthesis after his poll number. Hope this helps you keep track of our guy.

 New poll standings

Door HangerPush CardMeet MikeMike On The Issues

New poll data out today shows some exciting news, Mike Huckabee is now leading in South Carolina as well as Iowa! This news will surely sour the coffee of the die-hard haters who populate most of the well known conservative blogs. But here is what I've noticed:

Every time Huck gets slammed by these guys or the national press, he goes up in the polls. The more he gets attacked, the more money he raises. I've heard the Gov. joke about it in interviews, but it seems a valid dynamic. Why? Perhaps because the general public sense that the man is a decent person trying to do the right thing and are tired of seeing decent people ripped to shreds by the media elite -- from both sides.

Glenn Beck was replaying his interview with Huck tonite and I was struck by something that didn't resonate with me the first time I saw the show. The Gov. said voters were looking for someone authentic, not someone who claimed to be perfect.

In recent days, the Gov. has been excoriated on various blogs for his perceived (wrongly, I should point out) stance on immigration, the Wayne Dumond case, lack of immediate knowledge of the NIE report (that everyone says is garbage, by the way), perceived weakness (wrongly, again) on foreign affairs (and again, tell me about Mitt, Rudy , and Fred?'s experience), to name a few things. And he continues to rise in the polls.

Perhaps voters recognize the basic humanity and authentic nature of his campaign. It doesn't ring as electioneering, but rather as a man who wants to help this country return to its roots, its core greatness, and that's a good thing.

Poll data:

IOWA
RCP Average: Huckabee 27.2 Romney 25.4
Rasmussen:   Huckabee 27  Romney 24

SOUTH CAROLINA
RCP Average: Huckabee 17.8 Romney 17.8
Rasmussen:   Huckabee 25  Romney 18

NATIONAL
RCP Average: Huckabee 14 Guiliani 25.7
Rasmussen:   Huckabee 21  Guiliani 18

 Rough day at MichelleMalkin.com

Man, I'm exhausted.

I got in there at MM's site to stick up for Huck on more pro-illegal immigration nonsense. What a bunch of knuckleheads over there. Want to see the ugly side of conservatism, go check out this link:

http://michellemalkin.com/2007/12/03/three-reasons-i-cant-trust-giuliani-on-immigration/#comments

If you don't feel like it, here's a summary:

Mike Huckabee supports illegal voter registration, supports giving free college tuition to illegals, supports amnesty for illegals, his stance on illegals too far left for Hillary, etc.

Then it gets really ugly:

One guy refers to illegals as leeches. One guy says that there should only be people in this country that we invite! INVITE! Another suggests that rather than offer basic humanitarian services to illegals already living and working here, they should just be deported. The same guy extrapolates my argument about services into a joke about a lawyer saying his axe-murdering client was a good packer when he disposed of the body. The guy with the leeches comment gets all bent when I call him on it. When I Google one of the articles sited in their attacks on Huck, they try and paint me as a left-wing extremist. Heh, heh, if they only knew who they were talking about here.

These are the same clowns who get all high and mighty slamming the nutbags at DailyKos, but they are little better. I had planned on continuing the exchanges, but these guys are not interested in civil discourse. They are a gang of cyber thugs, pushing a version of isolationism that would make Ron Paul shudder.

I'll be back at them another time. There's no point trying to push a donkey off the pole here.

 Another possible pairing

Whew, I'm giddy!

There's a story at examiner.com that has Newt Gingrich slamming Bill Clinton over honesty issues. Yeah I know . . . fish in a barrel. But the kicker is at the end, where Newt says he wouldn't rule out accepting a VP position with the right candidate.

You know where I'm going with this --

Huckabee/Gingrich08!

Don't laugh, it could happen.
